Dr. Anil Dasyam from the Division of Abdominal Imaging was recognized with the Honored Educator Award at RSNA 2021. Established in 2011, the RSNA Honored Educator Award is presented each year to acknowledge those most invested in furthering radiologic education through the creation of high-quality educational content in their field of study.

Dr. Dasyam joins an impressive list of radiologists from across the world who have been honored to receive this award from the RSNA. The award serves as a benchmark of academic productivity in support of a meaningful and successful radiology career.

This is a tremendous honor and we as a department and institution join the RSNA in thanking Dr. Dasyam for his meaningful contributions, and dedication to furthering the professional development of radiologists.

Congrats to team UPMC who came in second place by a slim margin at the RSNA Resident Competition. The team defeated perennial imaging competition powerhouse University of Cincinnati in a semifinal round before being narrowly beaten by the University of Maryland in the final round. Congratulations to all the teams and Well Done team UPMC!

The UPMC Pitt Women in Radiology (PWR) group is focused on mentorship and friendship. The group brings together residents, fellows, and faculty from throughout the UPMC Radiology department. Recent events include attending a picnic and virtual lecture in Dr. Hughes' backyard, discussions on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the academic careers of women in medicine and science, and a recent fall social hour. Look out for events in the spring for female medical students interested in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology!

Please join us in congratulating Solomon Amemasor, who was selected as a NIH/NMA (National Medical Association) Fellow. He was selected to receive the NIH/NMA Travel Award to attend the NIH/NMA Academic Career Development Workshop. Congratulations Dr. Amemasor!
